The Pig Sty

Description

Settled in the outskirts of the popular coastal town of Whitby is The Pig Sty, a charming, two-storey cottage found on the owner’s farm, offering six guests a fantastic rural base for a North Yorkshire break.

As well as being within easy reach of the beautiful shores of Whitby Beach, The Pig Sty lies within the North York Moors National Park, so you can enjoy the best of coast and country, and with a wheelchair-friendly designed, ground-floor bedroom, everyone is welcome.

Step inside the front door to find the lovely open-plan living space, with two large sofas to lounge on after a busy day as you enjoy watching TV, and a dining table accommodating all six guests for delighting in delicious home-cooked meals.

Round the corner, discover a neatly fitted kitchen, complete with a fridge/freezer, microwave, electric oven and hob.

Two double bedrooms rest on the ground floor, one designed with wheelchair users in mind, boasting a wider door frame, TV, radio and an adjoining en-suite wet room, amidst attractive decor and plenty of storage.

Heading up the stairs brings you to the charming twin room, served by the shared shower room up here.

Spend time out in the large two level shared garden where a picnic bench is perfect for sitting out in the sun in the warmer months, whether dining alfresco or getting stuck in a book.

The location of The Pig Sty is ideal for those seeking country walks on the doorstep, with scenic drives bringing you further afield to the likes of Roseberry Topping, Hold of Horcum, and Beacon Hill.

Head into the heart of Whitby for a number of fun attractions, along with plenty of amenities including restaurants, shops, pubs and classic fish and chip shops.

Wander along the River Esk passing the bobbing boats in the water, with boat trips available from the harbour to afford beautiful views of Yorkshire’s rugged coastline.

Visit The Endeavour Experience and climb aboard the HM Bark Endeavour to discover the rich history it holds, go to the Captain Cook Memorial Museum home to engaging displays on famous voyages, and be guided around Whitby on a spooky tour with the Dracula Experience.

Take the 199 Steps up to Whitby Abbey and relish the views over the town and sea, before finding a local restaurant to dine in to end the day perfectly.

Whitby Beach is a very family-friendly beach, with donkey rides and beach huts echoing the classic British summertime, you can tuck into fish and chips on the beach or grab an ice cream.

Enjoy exploring the bustling town of Whitby, returning to the countryside comfort of The Pig Sty.
